The Mummy Game: Carry On The Motion Picture

By Roger X. Jones

For anyone who fell head over heels with The Mummy, released in 1999, will be delighted to find The Mummy Game picks up where the first two series finished, with Rick O'Connell at the Oasis of Ahm Shere, defeating the Scorpion King. The new plot is still based upon love and loss, when in the 1930's a heroine matched to Evelyn is afflicted by a mysterious illness brought forth from an expedition she was on. This adventurous wife, just as the enchanting Evelyn was in the movies, is also sadly plagued in her treks- "The Stones of Rancor" she found held a curse- her husband must now fight to discover the cure before it's too late.

This is not the only plot developed for The Mummy Game, as many different levels and characters have been formed to best please all spectators. Players may choose any gender, any responsibility, including a few such as librarians or scholars for the good side and assassins or priests for the bad side. Each of the familiar foes have returned in this game, including the decayed mummies with khopesh blades and warrior jackal-heads. Published information on the game boasts the fact that it was also designed hand in hand with movie scenery and includes audio from the films as well.

An Egyptian princess by the name of Masika has all the wrong intentions in this plot- the jackal-headed warriors that melted into the sands when Rick killed the Scorpion King will ascend again with the conjuring of her spirit. She, just as Imhotep, wants to take over the planet; the player decides upon beginning the game whether they want world peace or domination by assisting the cause of the princess. A variety of maps, relics, weapons, and character developments are involved in the deep storylines that make up this game.

The pigmy scene in the second chapter was an intense fight scene- just as the game stays true to the movies the Oasis of Amunet will be an interesting level to complete. Only backing down to beings of greater religious power than themselves, these cannibals are hand to hand combatants equipped with spears ready at a moment's notice to jump out from behind a tree. Another concern for players they must not forget is the infestation of scarabs throughout all of Amarna, which is the setting for The Mummy Game. The aforementioned threats can be met in all the maps, including the Ruins of Tabari and the Bazaar, incorporating the mummies and Anubis warriors- as well as life-sized scorpions with venomous stingers.

Anyone can engage in this three dimensional game in their browsers at no cost online. The trailer is just a sneak peak and gets the users excited for all the fast paced plots and action involved in this entertaining game.
