Effects Of Sci Fi Games On The Development Of Children

By Patrice McCoy

Science fiction is a category of stories which entails coming up with findings with regards to technological innovation. It brings together current and past circumstances from to come up with a whole new idea, which though partly overstated contains some factors based on facts. Sci fi games depend on this idea hence developing an exclusive world where gamers can contend using a personality that they can control.

Many parents in the developed world view such sports competition as a recommended pass time for their children, as they are a convenient way to keep their children indoors. This fact is further enhanced by the fact that some of the sporting events come with a multi-player online interface and hence players can interact and compete with their friends without leaving the comfort of their homes. This would seem like a good thing given the levels of crime in most neighborhoods in the developed countries where the parents are constantly away from their children due to work commitments.

These contests introduce the mind of the child to the globe of technological innovation and increase their innovative and innovative potential. These sports may have functions that integrate the use of a given exclusive technical system which leads to fascination in a child to actually learn how that system performs in the real world. A kid who is more technologically- savvy is better equipped to deal with the difficulties of the progressively technologically-inclined world.

However the demerits of the gaming competitions far outweigh the merits. These are because majority of the video competitions involve war and fighting techniques. The players have to fight off their opponents in order to proceed to become the next level. The hero is the person who kills the most competitors in the pursuit of victory . In the process the game inscribes a culture of violence in the competitor's subconscious mind. According to research, children who play these violent gaming competitions are seen to be more aggressive than children who do not engage in the activity.

Scientific fiction games have also been shown to affect the brain, and especially the areas concerned with attention, concentration, emotions and restraint of impulses. Children who frequently spend long hours playing these games have a lower response to emotional issues and their concentration on things that are less fictional is wanting.

According to Dr. Paul Grasby of Hammersmith Hospital in London, playing these gaming events is chemically addictive. A hormone called Dopamine which is associates with pleasure is proven to be produced two times more in player's minds than in people who do not play. These explain why most people are addicted to the game.

A person can be too engrossed into the virtual world that they lose touch with the real world. This is observed in a child's inability to socialize and make real friends. These children may be observed to have imaginary friends who are characters in their favorite sporting events, whom they treat as though they were alive and part of their social life. This behavior may be carried on to adulthood, making the person in question to be a social misfit with no friends.

It is the role of a parent to include outdoor activities and other events that involve human interaction in their child's play schedule. This is in a bid to improve their ability to form and maintain healthy relationships with other people. The hazards of sci fi games outweigh the benefits.
