The Importance Of Using Asset Labels In Organizations

By Melanie J. Renfroe

Asset tags or asset labels are critical in management and tracking of organizational property. These simple tags are attached to equipment, tools and any other movable or fixed property belonging to the organization. Most tags come with barcodes for electronic identification.

Security labels and other types of tags are instrumental in preventing theft of property. They achieve this by making tracking and identification of property easy. Barcode labels and other similar tags are also used as an indicator that an item is satisfies all the rules and regulations set by regulatory authorities or insurance companies.

Different companies can get custom labels by simply making a special order from the desired manufacturer. This type of label will contain the name and logo of the company as well as other important details. Custom tags make identification of property belonging to a particular company very easy.

These stickers come in different shapes and size and can be made of any of the following four materials. PolyVoid is a material used to manufacture tamper evident tags that have a void pattern. On the other hand, PolyAsset is used to make non-tamper evident tags with strong adhesive. Stickers manufactured using this material are usually very durable.

Another popular material is PolyCheck. Tags made from this material are also tamper evident but with a checkerboard design. Finally, PolyBreak is used to manufacture tamper evident tags which are indestructible.

In order to run an effective tracking system, durable asset labels should be used. The stickers should be waterproof, tamper-proof and with legible writing on it. While custom stickers might cost a little more than normal stickers, they often make it very easy to identify property belonging to an institution by simple observation. This type of stickers can be ordered online with delivery being made a few days later.
