By April Briggs

If you are a technical recruiter, it is your duty to identify excellent candidates for job positions in the technology world. Working independently is one of your options. You may be employed by a company's human resource department as well.

Aside from hiring managers, it is his or her task as well to hire candidates to make sure that there is a good fit between job role and employee. Tech recruiters have an important role when it comes to the hiring process. An independent one usually works on commission. He or she receives his or her compensation only if his or her candidate is hired by the employer.

The ability of a technical recruiter to find potential job candidates is the key to his or her success. He or she may spend majority of his or her time at industry conferences, universities and job fairs in Newport Beach, CA. The reason behind this is that he or she will attempt to meet professionals and students to add to his or her network. This will, however, depend on his or her connections and experience.

He or she may have experience in technology industry. A technical recruiter may also place candidates in high-level positions. This is usually the case if he or she has a strong understanding of the specific of the position such as relevant technical knowledge and the industry. This will definitely help him or her in facilitating a good match.

In terms of most technical roles, several skill sets are required. For this reason, it is often hard to locate job candidates equipped with experience, required skills and character for the job. You will start your search for the perfect candidate by talking to the hiring director or HR representative who is overseeing the hiring procedure.

It is his or her task to find out what the job requirements are and if he or she is familiar with the employer. In addition, the technical recruiter will try and learn more about the culture of the company. The reason behind this is for him or her to make sure that the personality of the candidate will fit well with the company. He or she is also tasked to familiarize the hiring policies of the company such as anti-discrimination laws, pertinent hiring, financial problems and criminal records.

The technical recruiter may also have some possible candidates in mind for the job. However, this will depend on his or her situation. He or she will begin a search in case he or she does not have any suitable candidates within his or her own network. Majority of the time, he or she will check online resume services. However, the technical recruiter may also begin searching for candidates checking on specific successful individuals who are currently working for other companies.

A preliminary interview is required so that you can verify the qualifications of the candidate. As a technical recruiter, you have to remember that you can only do so after making contact with a potential job candidate. If you think that the candidate is certainly an excellent fit, the next best thing to do is present him or her to the director of the company who will decide who to hire. This is generally your duties being a technical recruiter.
