Tablet Personal computer Comparison news: iPad outsells PCs

By Barber Paul

Last year here at Tablet PC Comparison , we saw lots of great development in the tablet P.C scene, as slate makers released better tablets to put up against the alleged top percentage share holder, the iPad 2. Well, even though alternative manufacturers have released new tablets that are close (in a number of cases, better) re specs to Apple's tablet PC, the iPad still managed to sell 15.4 million units worldwide in the last 3 months of 2011.

Apple Sales

With those numbers, Apple beat out PC makers Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus. Apple CEO Tim Cook was quoted saying, "As I have asserted before, I truly believe, and many others in the company believe, that there will come a day when the tablet market is greater than the Personal computer market." Cook also noted that the Apple iPad is cannibalizing Mac sales, though he suspects that "there's more cannibalization of Windows Computers by the iPad."

Changing Mobile Trends

Well, these are changing times: lifestyles are becoming more mobile, PC makers are developing their own tablet Computers to compete with Apple, and slates are rolling out of the factory armed to the teeth and far more powerful. These compound with the indisputable fact that tablet PCs are really far more mobile than desktops and laptops are really just a few of the observations why sales are swaying more and more towards the slates. As you would expect wars have pretty much erupted online over Tim Cook's statements at Apple's takings call "though what the general Internet-going public announces would seem to be valid. Some note that tablet Computers, though rising in sales, can never replace a full Windows PC, while others say that more cannibalization is actually occurring because most customers are content shoppers and not content creators.

At any rate, this could be exciting reports for all of you who follow the Tablet PC Comparison wars. Who doesn't desire in on Apple's cool US$ 46.33 bill net (US$ 13.06 bill gross) takings? This is only the very beginning, as more potential profit can be made, the more slate makers will probably continue to develop new tablets that are engineered to lure folk off the iPad. Competition rises, clients like us will get much better deals, and we'll continue to pitch the iPad against other slates here at Tablet PC Comparison.
