Various Kinds Of Network Cabling

By Toni Vang

Cabling is a system which involves the installation of cables for efficient and automatic transfer of network information. The cables are used for Local Area Network or LAN. Different kinds of cable like UTPs, STPs, WLANs, Coaxial, and Fiber Optics can be used to access the LAN. These can be installed individually or combined with one another depending on the network requirements.

STPs are more expensive compared to UTPs but the latter is more preventive of signal and electronic interferences. Installation and cabling Austin, TX service can be contacted anytime of the day if they are needed. STPs are among the most popular cables for installation even it is a little bit expensive.

UTPs are prone to signal interference so a very good alternative, although slightly more expensive are STPs. These cables can extend distances and are capable of preventing electrical and signal interference. This is why it is recommended in networks that have higher usage volumes.

Fiber Optics, can transmit signals in very long distances. And can carry transmit data at greater speed. This is very complicated to install and it needs complex modifications in order be used. But once installed, it is capable of interactive video and communication conferencing because of its speed. In addition, the signal it carries is as complex as Ethernet.

Fiber Optics are efficient in reaching a wider coverage. This is very ideal for large organisations or companies. This contains numerous small cables and wires which connect to the Ethernet. The reception is very fast so the transmission of messages from one network to another happens to be so fast. It has a speed that is as fast as a bullet and enables fast transactions.

Fiber Optics are one of the most complex cables and it has been intricately made. These have incredibly wide coverage and can support video conferencing and communications. Its speed is undeniably faster than anything else which means data transmission is faster using this cable type. It uses Ethernet. Furthermore, this is ideal in huge organisations especially in government transactions because it will make online services faster.

The installation of any of these types has to be done based on the guidelines to ensure efficiency. It is advisable that the cables are extra long. Installers must be three feet away from electronic devices to avoid interferences of signals. These sources of electrical interference may disrupt configuration processes. Moreover, it may delay the installation process as well.

In addition, it is important to do some test before final installation. The network must be tested first and if found to have some defects, must be fixed as soon as possible before installation resumes. Then, protectors must be used as they can be sensitive. This will also prevent potential signal interference.

Both ends of the cable must be labeled to avoid confusion regarding where the other one must be installed. They must also be tied instead of using tapes since these are not reliable support. This will avoid people from tripping over the excess lines and wires.
