The Thrilling Concepts Of Battlestar Galactica

By Audie C. Bosco

There are lots of science fiction franchises that have been able to hold on to popularity for many years, including Battlestar Galactica. The first time BG was brought to the TV audience was at the end of the 1970's during a short lived television program that, despite only lasting a brief time, was popular. There is lots of speculation that goes into the fantasy of science fiction, but fans of this genre appreciate the way they can imagine what the future may be like when space travel is commonplace. For fans of this genre, however, there are few things as exciting as a great television program, video game, movie, or book that takes the mind boggling ideas of science fiction and makes them feel real through believable characters and great plot lines.

Humans have been attacked and chased far from their home planet in Battlestar Galactica by the Cylon who are actually robot-like people who were made by humans in the past. The plot goes through many twists and turns, but what keeps fans interested is the fact that the story is rooted in normal human feeling. The real stars of BG are not the spaceships used to fight battles or the planets that are visited along the way, but instead the people who are facing very normal struggles in their efforts to survive and to find a new home.

Fighter jets, huge residential ships, and enormous battle ships are all featured extensively in Battlestar Galactica since the series takes place entirely in space. People who like science fiction are interested in seeing new ways of imagining travel in space and dogfights between high speed space ships. Even though today's technology has just started to barely scratch the surface of what spaceflight might eventually become, science fiction artists are able to create elaborate concepts of how space travel could work one day.

Fans that would like to truly experience what it would feel like to exist in this kind of science fiction universe can do so by playing video games that use the same characters, worlds, and vehicles found in the television show. It is exciting to get to interact with the characters and fight the antagonists in this way.

Battlestar Galactica has received a well-deserved place in the history of science fiction franchises and continues to gain fans. The story of BG is expanded through books, comics, and video games that let players get into the action of the main story.
